TRAINING IN FAMILY CHILDCARE

Do you want to work with young children?  Do you already provide home-based childcare and want to increase your skills?  The JPNDC can help.

We offer periodic trainings for residents of Jamaica Plain and other neighborhoods to start businesses in their homes that provide high-quality early childhood care and education.  You will learn about educational curriculum and care for children of different ages, how to meet state regulations, and performing CPR and first aid.  We will provide support through the state licensing process.

We also provide special trainings to licensed providers around the special issue of childcare during “non-traditional hours” – nights and weekends – and college level courses on early childhood development.

When a provider joins the JPNDC Family Childcare System, she or he has access to ongoing support, subsidies, and professional development opportunities including classes leading to the national CDA (Child Development Associate) certification.
