AFFORDABLE HOMES UNDER DEVELOPMENT
Jackson Square Revitalization Initiative
A partnership among JPNDC, Urban Edge, Hyde Square Task Force and Mitchell Properties to transform Jackson Square with more than 300 new homes, new green and recreational space, a new plaza and pedestrian-friendly improvements. Estimated start for first housing project: early-2012.
461 Walnut Avenue: Homes for the Homeless with Supportive Services
Read the January 2012 legal decision on 461 Walnut Ave.
In partnership with the Boston Health Care for the Homeless Program (BHCHP), a nationally recognized organization whose model has been replicated in 20 cities, the JPNDC will redevelop a former nursing home at 461 Walnut Avenue as permanent homes for 30 formerly homeless men and women.
Our redevelopment plan calls for 30 efficiency apartments on the second and third floors, and 20 respite care beds on the ground floor for individuals in transition from BHCHP's more intensive health care facilities. We will also create a one-bedroom unit for a resident manager, who will coordinate on-site services from Pine Street Inn including case management, access to mental health services and recovery groups, social activities and crisis intervention.
