A strong community needs empowered residents, accountable leaders, and a spirit of cooperation.  Community organizing and leadership development are integrated into all JPNDC activities.

ORGANIZING FOR AFFORDABLE HOUSING

High housing costs have placed severe pressure on JP’s low-income residents and endangered our community’s hallmark diversity.  You can help us mobilize for solutions.

EDUCATE, MOBILIZE, VOTE!

At election time and year-round, residents who have been traditionally underrepresented in the political process are making their voices heard.  We need your help!

COMMUNITY CONTROL OF HOUSING

Nearly 300 JP households live in cooperative or rental housing developed by the JPNDC.  We work closely with residents to develop leadership and management skills, and provide organizing and technical assistance to coop boards of directors and resident associations.

COMMUNITY-BUILDING EVENTS

Neighborhood clean-ups, workshops on current issues and multicultural festivals help unite our community and renew our spirits.  The JP World’s Fair, sponsored with three other local groups, brings more than 15,000 visitors to Hyde/Jackson Square each September.
