EDUCATE, MOBILIZE, VOTE!

The Coalition to Educate, Mobilize and Vote is a team effort of JPNDC, Hyde Square Task Force and City Life/Vida Urbana to increase the voice and political power of traditionally underrepresented Latino, African American and low-income community residents.  We work to increase voter turnout at election time and to build constituents’ advocacy skills and year-round communication with their political representatives.

The result of our voter turnout efforts in the predominantly Latino and African-American precincts of Hyde, Jackson and Egleston Squares, where voting rates had traditionally lagged 10 to 20% below citywide averages, have been outstanding.

In 2003, for instance, voting rates in four of our eight targeted precincts rose by more than 70%.  For the first time in recent memory, turnout in Hyde, Jackson and Egleston Squares surpassed the citywide average.

You can help keep this power growing!  The phone calls, flyering and door-knocking of volunteers makes the difference.  Call us at (617) 522-2424 ext. 279 or contact us.

We are making the voices of JP residents heard as never before.
