ABOUT THE JPNDC
The mission of the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corporation is to promote equitable development and equal opportunity in Jamaica Plain and adjacent neighborhoods through affordable housing, organizing, and economic opportunity initiatives that improve the lives of low- and moderate-income people and create a better community for all.
Our vision is of a vibrant, stable and diverse community in which people from all walks of life enjoy decent housing in a caring neighborhood, good jobs and opportunities to build careers or businesses, political power, and a promising future for our children.
Since our founding the JPNDC has become one of the most
successful non-profit community development corporations (CDCs) in the
state. We have developed more than 480 homes and created more
than 1000 jobs. More than 500 JPNDC members play an active role in our work.
Our work to revitalize the Hyde/Jackson neighborhood was recognized in 2000
by the National Community Development Initiative and in 2002 (with City
Life/Vida Urbana and the Hyde Square Task Force) by the United Way of
Massachusetts Bay.
In 2007, the JPNDC received a Community Builders award from the Bank of America's Neighborhood Excellence program. Click here for a timeline of our first 30 years or a tour of our development projects.
Our continued success relies on many community members who are rallying to ensure that Jamaica Plain remains a community that welcomes people from all backgrounds, providing safe, affordable housing and opportunities for economic success.
